Yoyogi Park Rockabilly

Back in the late 60s and early 70s you could walk in Yoyogi Park, not far from Harajuku Station, and along the walkway you would see group after group performing. There were mostly bands but also some dancers, acrobats, magicians, and others. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon.

The most popular groups were the Rockabilly groups and one of them continues today in Yoyogi Park. On Sundays they often come out, turn on their boom boxes, and dance. They are much older now, and much slower, and maybe not as cool, but still fun. This slide show is from the 70s, shot on film and scanned into digital images.
