Engyō-ji

Engyō-ji, is an atmospheric temple complex located on Mount Shosha with a history of over 1000 years. It is a temple of the Tendai sect about 30 miles from the city of Himeji. Because of the absence of modern infrastructure on its temple grounds and its isolation, parts of the temple were used in the Hollywood movie "The Last Samurai"
